AIM:
To encourage students to actively involve in participative learning of English and to
help them acquire Communication Skills.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To help students develop listening skills for academic and professional
purposes.
2. To help st udents acquire the ability to speak effectively in English in real-life
situations.
3. To inculcate reading habit and to develop effective reading skills.
4. To help student s improve their active and passive vocabulary.
5. To familiarize students with different rhetorical functions of scientific English.
6. To enable students write letters and reports effectively in formal and business
situations.
UNIT I 1
Technical Vocabulary - meanings in context, sequencing words, Articles-
Prepositions, intensive reading& predicting content, Reading and interpretation,
extended definitions, Process description
Suggested activities:
1. Exercises on word formation using the prefix ‘self’ - Gap filling with preposition.
2. Exercises - Using sequence words.
3. Reading comprehension exercise with questions based on inference – Reading
headings
4. and predicting the content – Reading advertisements and interpretation.
5. Writ ing extended def initions – Writing descriptions of processes – Writing
paragraphs based on discussions – Writing paragraphs describing the fut ure.
UNIT II 
Phrases / Structures indicating use / purpose – Adverbs-Skimming – Non-verbal
communication - Listening – correlating verbal and non-verbal communication -

Discussions analyzing stylistic features (creative and factual description) -

Cause and effect expressions – Different grammatical forms of the same word -
Speaking – stress and intonation, Group Discussions - Reading – Critical reading -
Listening, - Writ ing – using connectives, report writing – types, structure, data
collection, content, form, recommendations .
Suggested activities:
1. Exercises combining sentences using cause and effect expre ssions – Gap
filling exercises using the appropriate tense forms – Making sentences using
different grammatical forms of the same word. ( Eg: object –verb / object –
noun )
2. Speaking exercises involving the use of stress and intonation – Group
discussions– analysis of problems and offering solutions.
3. Reading comprehension exercises with critical questions, Multiple choice
question.
4. Sequencing of jumbled sentences using connectives – Writing different types
of reports like industrial accident report and survey report – Writing
recommendations.
UNIT IV 
Numerical adjectives – Oral instructions – Descriptive writing – Argumentative
paragraphs – Letter of application - content, f ormat (CV / Bio-data) - Instructions,
imperative forms - Checklist s, Yes/No question form – E-mail communication.

1. Re writing exercises using numerical adjectives.
2. Reading comprehension exercises with analytical questions on content –
Evaluation of content.
3. Listening comprehension – entering inf ormation in tabular form, intensive
listening exercise and completing the steps of a process.

CTET exam Postponed to May 5th 2012



The Central Teacher Eligiblity Test (CTET) is postponed to 5th may for Chandigarh, Manipur, punjab and Uttarakhand. The CTET  Exam was  already scheduled on jan 29, 2012 but now this exam was cancelled  and postponed to May 5th 2012.

VRA and VRO Admit Card and Hall Ticket




The Village Revenue Officers (VRO) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRA)  Admit card download date was scheduled from 10th to 25th January, 2012. AP VRO VRA written exam was scheduled to held on 30th January, 2012. But due to supplementary notification for VRO VRA on CCLA dated 7th January, 2012, date of VRO VRA Admit card download is changed.
VRO VRA supplementary exam online application is made available to invite some more job applications giving 2 years relaxation in upper age limit. So, AP VRO VRA new exam date is scheduled 19th February, 2012.

AP VRO VRA New Exam Date:

Andhra Pradesh Village Revenue Officers (VRO) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRA) written exam date is scheduled on 19th February, 2012. VRO exam time is 10 AM to 12 Noon and VRA exam time isfrom 3 PM to 5 PM.

GATE 2012 exam is going to be held on 12th February 2012,the admit cards for which are now available in various IIT’s websit .Admit cards can be downloaded from 05-01-2012 17:00 Hrs onwards by clicking ’Application Status‘.The links for downloading the admit cards are:



Admit cards are no longer send by the post.One has to download and take a printout of the admit card.You have to bring the admit card at the test center along with at least one original and valid photo identification.

Campus Exam Pattern for HCL Technologies




B.Tech, B.E. in the stream of ECE, EEE, CSE, IT, E&I and other departments are eligible.

No Standing Arrears. History of arrears depends upon the panel setup the HR. Some one HR rejects students who are having History of arrears will not eligible for online test itself.

Usually HCL Campus Placement Contains

1. Computer Based Online Aptitude Test

Online Test is outsourced by Aspiring Minds for HCL. It contains 4 modules. They are

English Verbal Ability

English Verbal ability has Synonyms, antonyms, comprehension, sentence formation etc.

Quantitative Aptitude

Quantitative aptitude has problems based on Numbers, H.C.F. and LCM, logarithms, square roots and cube roots, ratio, partnership, pipes and cistern, time and work, time and distance, boats and streams, alligation or mixture, simple interest, compound interest, permutations and combinations, probability etc.

Computer Programming

For computer programming has questions asked from basics of C, C++ languages. Knowing Concepts of OOPs is better. Working of if conditions, for loop and basics, syntax must be known.

Logical Reasoning

Logical reasoning has problems based on verbal classification, analogies, artifical language, matching definitions, making judgements, verbal reasoning, logical problems, cause and effect etc.


Each module has certain time period of ½ an hour. You cannot go to previous questions which is already completed or answered. You cannot move to next question unless current question was completed. If the time expires in one of the module, it will automatically switch overs to another module. Results of Online Aptitude Test will be usually sent by email only.
2. Technical Group Discussion:

Registration will be there to confirm the identity, you have to take a print out of email.

After Registration, for Technical Group discussion, panels will be split up. They may ask to speak on any topic. Even though they can ask to choose the topic yourself. For HCL, Filteration process will be in Group Discussion only. So be confident. Don’t Worry.
3.Technical Interview:

Usually technical interview will be questioned from your areas of interest.

For ECE students, Please read the basics of Electronic Devices, Electronic Circuits, Digital Electronics, Signals and systems, Digital Signal Processing, Analog Communication, Digital Communication, System design Using Integrated Circuits, Microprocessor and microcontrollers such as 8085, 8086, 8051 etc. Candidates must know the basics of C, C++ and OOPS concept. No need of programming capability.

4. HR Interview:

Usually who are cleared the Technical Interview, will be interviewed by HR for a formality only. Those who are cleared Technical interview can have the guts will be selected by the company. But due to lack of communication skills, there are lot of students rejected by HRs.

OBJECTIVE
At the end of this course the student should be able to understand the vectorial and scalar representation of forces and moments, static equilibrium of particles and rigid bodies both in two dimensions and also in three dimensions. Further, he should understand the principle of work and energy. He should be able to comprehend the effect of friction on equilibrium. He should be able to understand the laws of motion, the kinematics of motion and the interrelationship. He should also be able to write the dynamic equilibrium equation. All these should be achieved both conceptually and through solved examples.
